tmux commands

Tmux is a terminal multiplexer. It lets you switch easily between several programs in one terminal, detach them (they keep running in the background) and reattach them to a different terminal. And do a lot more.

Here are commands I’m using the most often:

CTRL+B # Prefix key, first press this, then you can use all the commands bellow.
"   Split the current pane into two, top and bottom.
%   Split the current pane into two, left and right.
c   Create a new window.
r   Force redraw of the attached client.
t   Show the time.
x   Kill the current pane.
{   Swap the current pane with the previous pane.
}   Swap the current pane with the next pane.
z   The window's active pane is zoomed.
Space
    Cycle available layouts.

Up, Down
Left, Right
    Change to the pane above, below, to the left, or to the
    right of the current pane.

C-Up, C-Down
C-Left, C-Right
    Resize the current pane in steps of one cell.

M-Up, M-Down
M-Left, M-Right
    Resize the current pane in steps of five cells.
